Where the Water Gets Stuck
When a Cove dishwasher finishes with water in the base, the drain path has been interrupted somewhere between the sump and the sink drain. The usual suspects, in order, are a clogged base filter, a blocked check valve that stops water from being pushed out, a kinked or clogged drain hose, a debris-jammed drain-pump impeller, or a blocked connection at the sink drain or disposer. Cove does not show a numeric code for this, so the fault is diagnosed by working through that path.

What You Can Check Safely
Turn the machine off, remove the base filter and rinse it, and clear any debris in the sump. Check the drain hose behind or under the machine for a kink, and make sure the connection at the sink drain is clear, a common overlooked cause is a garbage-disposer knockout plug that was never removed at installation. Bail out standing water first so you can see what you are doing. These steps resolve a large share of Cove drainage problems.
When It Is the Pump
If the filter, valve, hose and connection are all clear and the machine still will not drain, the drain pump is the likely fault, either jammed with debris or failed electrically. That is where a technician comes in, to test the pump and its control and replace it with a model-specific Cove part. Do not keep running cycles through standing water, as it will not clear a mechanical fault.
